There is a difference between singing a mantra and merging into the experience of the words.
Many of us have chanted these words for years. We know the melodies. We recognise the mantras and share them in our classes.
But what happens when we go deeper into the sound itself?
When we understand how the tongue forms the words. How pronunciation and rhythm shape the Naad. What we are actually reciting.
And when we begin to understand Shabad Guru as a living teacher.
This training follows the evolution of Naad and Shabad Guru — from the ancient roots of sacred sound, through the Bhakti movement and the lives and teachings of the Sikh Gurus, into the Shabads and mantras we practise today.

REFINE
The Sound
Work with Gurmukhi, pronunciation, tongue placement and voice to become more precise in your practice.

“Thank you for making these remarkable stories and the ‘sound current’ accessible to me. I am benefiting greatly from this course. What a wonderful way to learn more about the Siri Guru Granth Sahib and the teachings the Gurus gave.”
— Maureen
Shabad is not only something you learn in order to teach.
It becomes something you can draw on in your own life.
You begin to know which Shabad to turn to when you need clarity, steadiness, guidance or support. Not only for the big moments, but for the many smaller challenges of everyday life.
Over time, you build your own meditative toolkit — an expanding resource for what Satkirin calls spiritual fitness.
You don’t simply know the Shabads.
You know how to work with them.
“Fascinating how words and sounds could uplift my mood, quiet my thoughts and improve my being.”
— Claudia, Germany
This training brings together understanding, practice and application.
You will explore:
The origins of Shabad Guru — the evolution of Naad and sacred sound, from Patanjali and the Bhakti movement to Guru Nanak and the Siri Guru Granth Sahib.
The 10 Sikh Gurus — their lives, teachings and stories, and the meaning of the 11th Guru.
Shabad in depth — the story, meaning and origins behind each Shabad, alongside its practical application in your life.
Gurmukhi & pronunciation — with Rupinder Kaur, explore the foundations of the Gurmukhi alphabet and learn how the mouth and tongue form its sounds. Work with pronunciation, meter and rhythm to become more precise in your chanting and experience the original sounds of Shabad Guru and the Naad more deeply.
Sacred reading & guidance — learn what a Hukam is, how to take a Hukam for guidance, and explore different ways of connecting with Shabad Guru.
Living with Shabad Guru — explore Sehaj Path, Akhand Path, Sadh Sangat and creating a space for Shabad Guru in your home.
Voice culture — develop your voice for singing and chanting for transformation.
